Just as any typical Singaporean, my life was “standard”.
I graduated from Polytechinc 2003 years ago and armed with a Diploma, I started my career path with a “standard” choice – employee in a local bank.
Life was normal and “standard”, with an 8 to 5 job, nothing was exciting and the path is all determined in advance.
After 2 years in the bank, I was getting disillusioned with the “standard” system and looking to expand my career choices.
During my time when I was lost, I met Qiuming from Peter Tan Organisation (PTO®).
He was doing street prospecting and I actually stopped to listen to his pitch, something that I have never ever done before.
Though he couldn’t manage to sell a plan to me during that 15 min, he introduced me to this wonderful career after listening that I am tired of my current job.
He showed me some articles on Peter Tan, who is a very successful entrepreneur and his organisation was the top.
Qiuming also told me not everyone could join Peter Tan Organisation (PTO®) and have to go through selection camp. I was amazed and decided to give it a shot and I thought in order to be successful, I must follow a good leader.
Most importantly, it was the beautiful thought of becoming an entrepreneur that excites me, and also the dream of getting out of the rat race that is becoming so “standard” in Singapore.
With the new objective in mind, I did my best to outshine during the selection camp in order to get selected. Naturally, it was a great joy to know that I have been selected, and it’s the beginning of the promise that I will be duly rewarded in accordance to the level of effort that I put in as shared during the selection camp.
When I’m in Peter Tan Organisation (PTO®), I feel it’s really different from other companies.
It has it’s own culture and philosophy. Everyone in this organisation is so helpful and it’s like a big family, working as a team to strive together.
Most amazingly, everyone has the same dream – Entrepreneurship.
I enter into motherhood while in Peter Tan Organisation (PTO®) and I’m really grateful to this organisation.
There is a lot of compassion from my boss Darren Tan and this organisation really take care of mothers and married advisers. Support group were formed, it allows all mothers to have more interaction to share how to balance with work and family. There is even counseling session for mothers or married mothers to attend and I believe it really help us in relieving our stress.
In fact, Peter Tan Organisation (PTO®) has allowed us to take care of the small distractions during the course of work, giving us the trust and empowerment that is rarely seen.
I’ve truly grateful for this chance to share these thoughts and experiences to fellow PTOians and hopefully, potential advisers to come.
